Water Aerobics

May 7, 2008

I got a question from a reader, it asks the question itself.

I was wondering if there is a water aerobics group that meets at any of the pools in the summer?

I’d be interested in that as well. From the lack of responses, I would assume that there isn’t currently a class like that, but maybe someone will see our posts and get one started!

I am a swim lesson instructor and personal trainer who will be teaching swim lessons at Steiner Ranch this summer. I would be interested in teaching an aerobic class in the area and was wanting to know some of yalls feedback. I was thinking of the morning from 8:45-9:30. Please email me your ideal program and goals you have as well as when you would like to have the program. Also, a number of how many people are interested is good at well. My email is amanda@lifeguard4hire.com. Thanks!

I’d love to meet for group swimming! Like a masters swimming program, if there is one. I’d be happy to coach one too!

I would also be interested in water aerobics. Has there been any developments with this idea?

Well, I guess I will stop checking this site…nothing new in over a month now. What’s the point?

  • Put it to a vote….

A master’s program needs to be something that runs year round, there are numerous throughout Austin and they require constant work to keep people interested and competitive. A vote was taken to heat the Bella Mar pool last year however it failed to pass. Most people involved in master program’s have to register their club with USMS.org to compete. Maybe it’s time to resubmit this for a vote to the HOA; I think it could be successful over time and it would help with younger swimming programs.

Unless Lakeway has a program this might be the only one in far West Austin. Round Rock, Cedar Park, Westlake, UT and Circle C all have their own programs. Quarterly membership fees range typically in the $300’s.

Was e-mailing with the blog’s author and he mentioned he would start posting again next Monday (June 16th).

Everyone needs a break!! I’m just glad we have a resource to keep everyone up-to-date on Steiner Ranch… very helpful.

I’m originally from the east coast and am fairly new to Texas. I’m a member of wild basin and i think it’s fantastic, however I do greatly miss the water aerobics from my old gym back home. I have bad knees and found the water to be a great form of exercise that wasn’t too rough on the knees. As for me, I’m not looking for anything too serious that would disrupt the pool schedule, just a fun work out.

How much do you think it costs us to run the front sprinklers all day on Sunday?
