I stopped by Fion today and talked to to the owners of Fion. They are opening on Monday, October 1st. They have a large wine rack, a large beer selection in a walk in cooler, and a snack and cigar bar. There is some nice seating in the front and other tables throughout the pub. They do not have a website yet, but will [...]

In our old house we had some sugar ant problems and called Terminex and they charged a pretty penny to get rid of them and while it solved the problem… It just seemed very big corporation like and impersonal to me. After the first month or so after moving into our new home we had squirrels invade our home through an open hole left by Newmark Homes( I am still sore about that subject, another blog post another time).Long Story short I luckily [...]

One of my co-workers I carpool with sometimes, told me why the road surface at the curve on 2222 past Cooke’s Automotive near the shell Station has been ripped up like it will be resurfaced. After a couple of fatalities on that stretch of road as evidenced by these forum posts at the city data forum. He thinks the reason they do this is to provide more traction/friction on that stretch of road to prevent future accidents. I first thought it was [...]

The HEB at Four Points is pretty good. I always go there for all my grocery shopping. When I lived down south they had a new HEB store that was almost like a Central Market in that it had a food bar and other types of upscale amenities. I spotted this in an article about HEB buying 5 Albertson’s. H-E-B is planning to expand or upgrade other stores in high-growth areas, including on Texas 71 in the Village of Bee Cave and at RM 620 and RM 2222. I [...]

I saw that Sal Costello posted a comment on my blog on my website… and I would be not giving fair and equal oppurtunity to also present the other side of the coin on the toll road issue. That site is Take on Traffic. Check out that one and Sal’s blog about both sides of the contentious Austin Toll Road debate as evidenced by this article. So at the beggining of reading both, I was leaning to toll roads, but after visiting other cities and [...]

I saw that the Pak Mail in Steiner Ranch opened. I think the Grand Opening was today. It is nice to have a place to send a package real quick instead of driving all the way to the Lakeway Post Office. Visit it and support this new Steiner business.Steiner Ranch Pak Mail Hours: Monday-Friday: 9am – 6:30pm, Saturday: 10am – 3pm, Sunday: closedSteiner Ranch Pak Mail Phone Number: 512-266-6262Steiner Ranch Pak Mail Directions: Google [...]

Me and my wife just got back from vacation and saw that there are a lot of comments about Tutto Gusto and The Market at Steiner Ranch. I am going to try and get ahold of the email address of the owners of both places and alert them of the site and the comments especially. In the meantime, I would encourage everyone to tell their fellow neighbors about the site and see if we can get more input about all the business in Steiner Ranch. I think if [...]

In the new retail development in the center of Steiner Ranch there are five new developments with some to lots of activities going on to open. The first one to open will probably be Fion: Wine, beer, cigar pub. I think it will be pretty cool to have a local watering hole in Steiner Ranch. It looks pretty nice inside. Red leather booths and a darker paint scheme. Reminds me a lot of the Belmont downtown… the 50′s rat pack style. Also ongoing is [...]

Well at least for the LISD (Leander Independent School district) part of it. Found it in this article about the LISD budget. Here are the Tax rates for the last 5 years.2007: 1.3334002006: 1.6438002005: 1.7500002004: 1.7900002003: 1.8300002002: 1.722000That is the big drop, probably because of the large influx of people into the area that can enable them to increase the budget without increasing the tax rate because of all the new homes in the [...]
